For receiving notes over the Internet it is your personal public IP address - provided by your ISP.
    You can have:
      • personal static and public at the same time if you have direct connection and your IP address in ISP's network and in outside world is the same
      • personal static IP address but IP address you see on your computer is different from your public IP address.
      • personal dynamic IP address - if you connect through the dial-up/ADSL.
      • non-personal static/dynamic IP address. If your ISP has the same public IP address for a range of users (eg. for your office, building, etc.), you don't have an easy way to receive notes over the Internet. We recommend you to contact your ISP to try to resolve the problem.
If you don't know your IP address, you can:
      • consult your ISP
      • use different IP tests.
      • use a command-line utility ipconfig
      Syntax: ipconfig [/all]
ipconfig /all : Displays the full TCP/IP configuration for all adapters. Without this parameter, ipconfig displays only the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway values for each adapter. Adapters can represent physical interfaces, such as installed network adapters, or logical interfaces, such as dial-up connections.

Note: If you have a dynamic IP address, you should determine your IP address each time after you connect to the Internet
  • If you change the port number in the Network Settings, you need to provide your friends with the new port number so they use it while sending notes to you. If you send a note to somebody who has changed program's listening port in Network Setting, you must specify the current port number the recipient is using.
